Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Body Contouring With Radio Frequency?
Body contouring with the Venus Versa involves using Multi-Polar™ Radio Frequency combined with Pulsed Electro Magnetic fields to break down local fat cells so that a reduction can be seen right round the body in the chosen areas, whilst reducing the appearance of cellulite and tightening and firming the skin. These combined technologies work by producing heat in the skin, increasing collagen levels and stimulating the body’s own natural healing response.
What Makes Multi-Polar Radio Frequency Skin Tightening Different From Other Radio Frequency Treatments?
There are many radio frequency devices on the market but there are significant differences in their effectiveness. Many do not penetrate deep enough into the skin tissue and are therefore not as effective in stimulating collagen production, with its lifting and tightening effect.
What makes the Multi-Polar radio frequency unique is its patented technology: in scientific terms, it combines both Multi-Polar Radio Frequency technology and Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields (MP)², which allows for a greater penetration of energy and gives not only a lifting and firming effect but also long-term results in collagen production.
Other radio frequency devices can also cause discomfort during treatment. The sensation of Multi-Polar radio frequency treatment can be compared to a hot stone massage. It is therefore much gentler, but still increasingly effective at delivering results. With a built-in thermometer your practitioner will continuously know the temperature of your skin in real time. This allows for most carefully controlled treatment, ensuring that the energy is neither too hot nor too cold and so able to deliver you the most effective results.

How Many Treatments Are Required?
We usually recommend that patients receive 6 - 8 treatments, at weekly intervals, to see optimal benefits. It is very important that you follow the recommended treatment plan in order to give you the best results possible and to ensure value for money.
Is There Any Downtime?
You may experience some swelling and mild redness in the treatment area immediately afterwards. Sometimes there is also a continued sensation of heat. However, all these typically resolve within approximately 3 hours. You can return to your normal daily routine immediately after treatment.
Is Body Contouring Painful?
Multi-Polar radio frequency treatment is generally considered to be a comfortable procedure - the sensation felt is often compared to that of a hot stone massage.
What Should I Do Before Treatment?
Your practitioner will discuss all pre-care issues at your initial consultation but to indicate the essentials here:
- Avoid waxing, threading or laser procedures to the treatment area 48 hours before your appointment.
- If you are currently taking any medications, prescribed or over-the-counter, ensure you have discussed them with us.
- We are unable to treat you if you have taken Roaccutane in the past 6 months – you must notify us of this if you have.
- We are unable to treat you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Again, please notify us if you are.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
Areas that can be treated include the arms, bra line, abdomen, flanks, thighs and buttocks. Radio frequency provides a not only a lifting and tightening effect but also breaks down localised fat cells so that you see an overall ‘round the body’ reduction.
